Church of the Holy City is a spiritual home for people seeking a broader sense of
Christianity in Washington, DC. The church offers a vision of an infinitely loving God,
whose warmth and light can deepen our inner life and give direction to our spiritual
journey.

We are part of the Swedenborgian Church, an open-minded, forward looking
Christian denomination drawing its faith from the Bible as illuminated by the teachings of
 Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772). Swedenborg uncovered deeper meaning in the Bible,
revealing a guide to spiritual growth and the inner journey toward the new self.

The church holds that the highest form of worship is to live a useful life in the world.
Church of the Holy City seeks to foster that vision of usefulness within this city.
